Appendicitis Red Flags
Early recognition of appendicitis could be a life or death difference. The list below provides a small but effective overview of some appendicitis red flags.
Pain will usually start as an ache near the belly button and will then migrate towards the right side. As the pain migrates it will become sharper.
Pain worsens with walking, coughing, and any movements that constrict the abdomen.
Loss of appetite due to nausea and vomiting.
Visible swelling in the lower right abdomen.
Constipation or Diarrhea
Moderate to High fever
Emergency Indicators
Appendix rupturing.
Severe and potentially fatal inflammation of the abdominal lining.
Prolonged hospital stays.
Increased health care costs.
Systemic infections.
